New Camera

Those of you familiar with my paintings on this site will recognize this view. I bought a new digital camera last week. A Sony A100 that was being sold as an open box from Best Buy, even though it had zero clicks on it. It's not the best of the best, but it's still a remarkable picture making tool, and a steal for a 10 mp DSLR for $320. Anyway, I've been having a ball shooting with it. Shooting RAW files, manipulating them in the provided program, then finishing them in Photoshop is a surprisingly similar thought process to painting a picture. I don't do drastic things with the programs. My intent is to make the image look more like what I saw than the camera produced alone. These are some recent pics

We had a few inches of snow yesterday and it clung to everything. This is not a black and white photograph and only required a light unsharp mask in Photoshop.

These sumac seed heads are right outside my shop window. I've wanted to shoot this picture for years.
